Frequently asked questions
First check that Pinly notifications are on in your device settings. If they still don't come, battery-saving may be blocking the background — the device fixes solve most cases.
Place alerts can be toggled per place, and distance alerts per member. Turn off the ones you don't want in Settings to keep only what matters.
From the family map, you can send a 'location request' alert to a member whose location hasn't updated in a while. They get a notification, and tapping it opens the app and sends their latest location right away. If they've fully closed (force-quit) the app, the notification may not arrive — then they'll need to open the app themselves. The other way around: if you get a 'Someone wants to check your location' alert, just tap it and your location is sent automatically.
It means your location hasn't reached your family for a while. This usually happens when background location is restricted. Just open the app once and it starts flowing again; if it keeps happening, check your device settings (turn off battery optimization, set location to 'Always', and so on). For detailed fixes, see the 'Location not updating' help below.
Save frequent places like home or school, and get notified automatically when family arrives or leaves. It's free.
Tap the SOS button on the map — after a 10-second countdown (or send now), your whole family gets an urgent alert with your location and battery. They see a full-screen alert instantly and can view you on the map or call.
Battery alerts warn you when a family member's battery is low — available with Premium.
Set a distance per member and get notified when they move beyond it or come back close. Toggle it per person — and it's free.
